Biography:
Paromita Roy, a PhD in Psychology is the Deputy Director of Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), Kolkata, with more than 25 years of experience working with high ability students of science. She is involved in program development for high ability science students and teacher training development. Her research interests include talent identification and nurture, developing concepts of giftedness, women and girls in STEM. She is currently working on a longitudinal study of JBNSTS scholars, and psychology of talented students with College of William and Mary, Virginia, USA and Center for Talented Youth Dublin City University, Ireland. |
An ECHA, ICASE and APA member, Paromita was a joint convener of India's "First International Conference of Gifted Minds" India, 2014. She has contributed two chapters; in "Gifted Education in Asia: Problems and Prospects", published by IAP, USA in 2015, and "International Perspectives on Science Education for the Gifted: Key issues and challenges" published by Routledge in 2016. She has bee principal investigator from India of two Cross Nation Studies on Teacher Perceptions on Giftedness, a research project from University of Erlangen- Nuremberg, Germany. She has spoken at conferences in New Delhi, Maharashtra, Bangalore, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Taiwan, China and Croatia. She is a recognized mentor of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for gifted science students in India. |
